About Us
My Bookshop By Corrie Perkin opened in October 2009. Stage One was to establish our little shop front in Melbourne’s Hawksburn Village as a cherished destination for local bookworms in search of smart and intelligent new releases and older titles. Stage Two – our virtual shop front and online magazine – was launched in June 2011. In 2012 we embark on Stage Three, our own publishing company.
My Bookshop prides itself on its quality of stock and standard of service. If you can’t find the book you’re after inside our shop, we will work hard to locate your title from our terrific national and international suppliers. And if you’re uncertain about what kind of book you’re after – either for yourself or to give – we’ll offer plenty of suggestions. Conversations about books are not part of the 21st century online buying culture, but they are certainly part of ours. We love talking books!
Our mantra is: books are not commodities, they are works of art. We have great respect for all books; even the smallest paperback has been created by a writer, designed by graphic artists, marketed by specialists and sold to us by dedicated publishers. Our stock covers a raft of subjects and genre, and our focus includes:
- quality new fiction and non-fiction
- biography and autobiography
- history
- politics and social issues
- media, graphic design and marketing
- food and wine
- art
- architecture, interior design and gardening
- fashion and retail
- children’s books, from babies to teens
